Do I need Claude Pro to use WP Navigator?

No, WP Navigator works with both Claude Pro and Claude Free tiers. Claude Pro users benefit from extended thinking for complex WordPress operations, but the Free tier works perfectly for most WordPress management tasks. Both tiers support the full MCP protocol integration.

What WordPress version is required?

WordPress 5.6+ is required for Application Passwords support. This is the authentication method WP Navigator uses to securely connect Claude Code to your WordPress site. PHP 7.4+ is recommended, but PHP 8.0+ is preferred for best performance and security.

Can I use this on localhost or wp-env?

Yes! WP Navigator works perfectly on local development environments. We provide a complete wp-env setup guide with Docker configuration. Start WordPress locally, install the plugin, configure your MCP settings, and test everything before deploying to production. HTTPS is still required—use mkcert or similar for local SSL.

How do I prevent dangerous operations like deleting all posts?

Use the 8-category policy system to control what Claude Code can do. Set categories to DENY (block completely), READ (view only), EDIT (drafts only), or WRITE (full access). For example, set plugin_ops to DENY to prevent plugin installations, or set content to EDIT to allow draft creation but block publishing. The Pro version adds approval workflows for extra-sensitive operations.

Is my WordPress site data secure?

Yes. Authentication uses WordPress Application Passwords over HTTPS—no custom authentication system. All operations are logged to the audit trail with full transparency. API secrets are never logged or transmitted in Claude Code responses. You can revoke Application Passwords anytime from WordPress admin, and WP Navigator respects WordPress's built-in user roles and capabilities.
